Challenges
Extracurricular activities may take up a significant amount of time, which can interfere with academic responsibilities or work commitments. The level of involvement in extracurricular activities can vary significantly from student to student. Some students may experience burnout, while others manage their time effectively. Socioeconomic and cultural factors may limit access to extracurricular activities, which may result in different levels of participation and impact.

Conducted in-depth interviews and ensured a diverse and representative sample of students from different backgrounds who experience extracurricular activities differently.
Goals
Measure not only the type of extracurricular activities but also the frequency and intensity of participation. Identify patterns and gain a deeper understanding of how varying degrees of involvement affect students’ lives.
Solution
Conduct interviews including questions that explore the type, frequency, and intensity of participation for students’ extracurricular activities. Create a codebook to categorize extracurricular activities into distinct types and analyze their specific impacts at varying levels.
